Alert: Issue with the new Apple iOS 11 and Office 365 email

Vivian Lee

If you have upgraded your iPhone/iPad to the new iOS 11, then you may be experiencing problems receiving email on your device! Microsoft announced this weekend that there is an issue with synchronizing email between Office 365 and Apple devices running the new iOS 11 and using the built in Apple email program. You can easily tell which program you are running by checking your icon.

The “native” iOS program uses this icon:

And the new MS Outlook icon looks like this:

If you are using the NATIVE app, you will likely have issues receiving new email on your phone. There are no errors displayed, you just don’t see any new email on your phone.

Microsoft and Apple are working on a fix but there is no resolution at this time. Your only option is to switch to the Microsoft Outlook app.

If you want to switch to the new MS Outlook app, you will need to download it from the Apple Store and you will need your email password to configure. The Outlook app does offer some useful functionality over the iOS app. For instance, Outlook has a calendar built in so you can easily switch between an email and your schedule. The email compose screen is simple to use and allows you to switch between accounts if you have more than one. You can easily attach photos or files in the email screen in Outlook.
